Marie up for a Barrymore Award

If you aren’t a theatre buff, you might have never heard of the Barrymore Awards. The Barrymores are an award given each year for excellence in theatre for Philadelphia area productions. They are like the Tony Awards but for Philly. So they are a big deal! The awards are named after the famous Philadelphia family that brought us John Barrymore and Drew Barrymore and a host of other famous Barrymores.  Well, Marie Laster, one of our acclaimed architects was recently honored for her work by being nominated for a prestigious Barrymore for Outstanding Scenic design for a set she built for the one man show titled….wait for it, Untitled for Inis Nua Theatre Company. She was up against some seasoned set designers and some big name shows. Although she didn’t win, it’s still a huge honor to even be considered. We are really proud of all the hard work she’s put into all of her productions. I don’t think this is the last time you will hear about Marie Laster. Look for her at next years Barrymores.
