The Mamarneck Playhouse has been a part of downtown Mamarneck for almost a century, and has undergone some less than desirable adaptations along the way. When JKRP was brought in, the auditorium had already been split down the middle into two auditoriums, neither being any good. After years of neglect, the owners under the guidance of JKRP came to the conclusion that a complete gut was the only option, and more screens would help make the theater more viable in today’s marketplace. An ambitious plan to create 7 screens into the existing shell with a small overbuild would create the right mix in auditorium sizes while still preserving optimum viewing angles and retaining the majesty of the original auditorium’s architectural features.
