The Link

The Link for CA Ventures is a combination of historic preservation and new ground up construction. The complex project saves 16 storefronts along Lancaster Avenue built in the 1880s and adds contemporary dwelling units above. A new addition containing the bulk of the residential units was carefully added to the back side of the protected structures. There are 126 units with a mix of 3 bedroom, 2 bedroom and junior one bedroom units. The 146,000 sf building contains 7,700 square feet of retail as well. The site was particularly challenging. In addition to the 16 buildings that were saved, there was also a 10 foot differential from one corner of the site to the other. Photos by Hugh Loomis
