About the Project

Anthony Wayne Senior Housing is a multi-phase affordable senior living community in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood that provides 130 residences across three buildings. The development began with the adaptive reuse of the historic Anthony Wayne School, a four-story elementary school built in 1909 that was transformed into 39 senior apartments with community spaces, management offices, and improved site accessibility. Anthony Wayne II expanded the campus with a new four-story building containing 46 affordable senior apartments and shared amenities. Anthony Wayne III completed the community with a Passive House-certified residential building, making it one of Philadelphia’s first affordable senior housing developments designed to meet the rigorous energy-efficiency standard. Developed through a public-private partnership with the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), the campus helps preserve affordable housing while enabling seniors to remain in the neighborhood they call home.
