About the Project

JKRP led the transformation of the historic Mamaroneck Playhouse, reimagining the nearly century-old theater for modern cinema operations while honoring its architectural legacy. The project involved a complete interior redevelopment and targeted expansion, converting a previously fragmented auditorium configuration into a cohesive seven-screen theater. By carefully balancing auditorium capacities, sightlines, and circulation within the existing shell, the design maximized operational flexibility without sacrificing the character-defining features of the original structure. The result is a contemporary entertainment venue that preserves the grandeur of the Playhouse while supporting its long-term viability.
