JKRP Architects completed the renovation of 760 linear feet of retail frontage at the Bennetts Mills shopping center in Jackson, New Jersey. A primary design challenge was maintaining a sense of verticality and pedestrian scale across the long retail façade. To address this, the design introduces a rhythm of vertical tower elements and black screen features that help break down the scale of the building while creating visual interest throughout the center. A restrained material palette of brick, stucco, and Longboard siding adds warmth, texture, and continuity to the renovated exterior. Owned and operated by Brixmor Property Group, the center is home to a mix of retail, dining, and service tenants including County Line Veterinary Hospital, Dollar Tree, Encore Dental, Home Wine & Liquors, and Jersey Mike’s.
