About the Project

Located adjacent to the Miraflores Locks on the Panama Canal, this 19,000 SF theater is home to South America’s first IMAX theater. Designed to support both the canal’s visitor experience and commercial cinema operations, the 467-seat venue presents educational programming by day and first-run feature films after hours. A glass-enclosed entry vestibule navigates the site’s steep grade, creating a dramatic arrival sequence that connects visitors from the lower canal embankment to the existing visitor center while highlighting views of ships passing through the locks.
