Located in Philadelphia’s Harrowgate neighborhood along Kensington Avenue and the Market-Frankford Line, J-Centrel transforms two historic warehouse buildings into a mixed-use community that combines affordable workspaces, residences, and ground-floor retail. The adaptive reuse preserves the site’s industrial character while creating contemporary spaces that support living, working, and entrepreneurship. The two buildings frame a publicly accessible central courtyard that serves as a shared gathering space and strengthens the project’s connection to the diverse and creative community in the surrounding neighborhood. As part of the historic rehabilitation, the exterior windows were replaced with historically appropriate units that preserve the architectural character of the original warehouses.
